Who Are We?

Jordi Comas (Professor):

I teach and write about organization _________ (choose:     theory, studies, science). My work draws on technique and theory on social networks, learning, institutionalism, and the network society. Currently I am exploring or examining virtual worlds, terrorism, social entrepreneurship, and the relationship between networks and learning and innovation. I went to Carleton College for my BA, I have an MA in Sociology form UVa, and my PhD from IESE/Universidad de Navarra. Some aspirations: see the world cup in person, end the use of wraps as a sandwich medium, foster more social entrepreneurship, publish articles and books, and blog until the end. My own blog: The Nets We Weave.

Ross (TA): I am currently a Junior management major and the TA for Organizational Theory, which keeps this blog going with awesome articles and comments. My main job is to facilitate the students to write interesting blog articles, but at the same time, urge them to connect their posts with ideas gleaned from our texts and class discussion. I will also attempt to comment on most articles in hopes or fostering interesting discussions and debates.

Authors:

Kelly (Student): I am a junior Management major and Anthropology minor at Bucknell University but on breaks I happily reside outside the nation’s capital. I have many diverse interests with a few being microfinance, public relations, and sports marketing. When I am not doing my school work, you can usually find me running as it is one of my favorite ways to spend my free time. I am brand new to blogging but I am enjoying it as I go along.

EJ (Student): I’m now a junior Management major at Bucknell University. When I’m not blogging away about organizational theory, you can find me in my hometown right outside of Philadelphia cheering on those Phillies, Sixers, Flyers, and Eagles. When I’m not watching sports or running, I enjoy studying anthropology, marketing, and finance. I began blogging as an assignment, but it is quickly turning into an interest of mine.

Alex aka Team Memphis (Student): I’m currently a sophomore Management Major at Bucknell University. Blogging is new to me, but I am beginning to enjoy it more and more. I hail from Williamsport, the home of Little League Baseball, where the Little League World Series is played ever year. I love baseball. It’s my second job here at school, behind academics of course.

Emily(Student): I’m a junior Management and Spanish double major at Bucknell University. Some of my academic interests include marketing, finance and Spanish culture. Outside of the classroom, one of my favorite things to do, other than blogging, is to cook; I even have a cooking column in The Bucknellian. Maybe one day I’ll have built an empire as successful as Martha Stewart’s, but hopefully without going to jail.

Brooke (Student): I am a junior Management and Psychology major and a member of the women’s varsity soccer team. My life plan is to always spend time with the people who make me happy and pursue the things I love. I am passionate about soccer and love my team. I also love the thrill of challenges and taking risks. I want to one day travel the world, run a marathon, climb Mount Everest, and anything else exciting and challenging.

Molly (Student): Hello! I am Molly Linhart and I am currently a senior Management major at Bucknell with a minor in Legal Studies. As a senior, I have recently retired from the varsity soccer team since our season ended this past November. Now I have lots of free time to blog, blog, blog! In addition to being an athlete I am in a sorority, I am an entrepreneur, and I am starting to write a book. Last year I traveled around the world on Semester at Sea…something I love to talk about, so feel free to ask me anything!!

Will (Student): I’m a junior Management major at Bucknell from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I’m a huge sports fan and my favorite teams are the Pittsburgh Penguins, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Pitt Panthers. I also love traveling. I recently spent three months in London and I have also been to Australia, Alaska, Mexico, and a number of places in Europe.

Kurt (Student): Hey! I’m a senior Management major at Bucknell from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I’m interested in entrepreneurial ventures and started my own pizzeria just outside of Pittsburgh this past July. I am a 4-year rower on the Men’s Crew team. I am also a brother of Tau Kappa Epsilon on campus. In my spare time, I enjoy working on cars and being outdoors.

Mike W. aka The Middleman (Student): I’m a senior Management major with a minor in Classics.  I really enjoy the area of finance especially real estate while Classics and history are more of just hobbies.  I’ve been playing hockey since I was 5 and started skating even earlier than that.  I play club hockey here at Bucknell and when I’m not skating I split my time here at Bucknell between the Bucknell Finance Network, studying, and my fraternity Lambda Chi Alpha.  I love traveling and last year roamed around Europe during my semester abroad in Austria, ich vermisse Österreich.  I’m also a fan of the outdoors and snowboarding.

Tania (Student): Hey everyone! I’m a senior  majoring in Management with a French minor. I have different interests when it comes to school, I like marketing, economics, and one of my favorite classes Business, Govt, and Society. Being a french minor has giving me the opportunity to experience other cultures which is something that has always caught my attention, and learning about their history. I have been playing tennis since I was 5 and would say it is my true passion in life. I love traveling, reading, learning different languages and condiser myself a very spontaneous person.

Derek (Student): I’m a junior Management major at Bucknell University. Originally from Pottstown Pennsylvania, I am an assistant strength coach in the varsity weight room and a big sports fan. I enjoy historical and political studies, and have recently taken a more intense interest in foreign affairs. luckily enough, I have done a fair share of traveling in my life, having most recently spent two weeks in Peru, which has given me the opportunity to see foreign affairs from a variety of perspectives. I am also a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and an avid skier, having spent a winter living in the Swiss Alps and skiing on a daily basis.

Jessie (Student): I am pursuing a degree in Business Management at Bucknell University. One of my greatest passions is dance, so most of my free time is spent in the dance studio on campus.  I am originally from California and also enjoy going to the beach, kayaking, and hiking; although when at school I don’t usually do any of those things.  I enjoy traveling and being immersed in new cultures.  Where ever I am I make my home and I appreciate all of my friends out east for being my family.

Christian (Student): I am a Senior majoring in management and minoring in religion. When not at school I reside in Northern New Jersey with my parents and younger brother. I am a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity and am active in several other extra curricular at Bucknell. When not doing school work or job hunting I can be found straight up chillin.

Macey (Student): I am a junior management major at Bucknell University.  I am originally from Lebanon, Pennsylvania, just two hours south of Lewisburg.  I’m a member of the varsity swim team on campus so much of my time is spent down in Kinney Natatorium.   I’m also a member of a sorority on campus and when I’m not in the pool or in class I enjoy traveling, reading and playing tennis.

Mike (Student): If anyone can tell me whether I’m a junior or senior that’d be great…(I took a semester off and things are a little complicated right now)  When I’m not thinking of my sunny home down in socal, or surfing this blog, I used spend my time either at the gym or playing various video games.  (Un)Fortunately, reading (I’ll read pretty much anything) has kind of pushed my gaming out of the way recently 😦
